Marvel has an ambitious slate of projects coming up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Disney+, including a new series about Moon Knight, which will come alongside other heroes like She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and more.
With the roster of projects underway, we’re starting to get word about what to expect from the next batch of shows, including details for Moon Knight.
Back in October, we learned that Oscar Isaac had reportedly signed on to play the show’s main character, Marc Spector, a soldier who makes a deal on his death bed with an ancient Egyptian god, turning him into Moon Knight. While Spector’s abilities revolve around his work as a detective, he has enhanced speed, strength and endurance depending upon the cycle of the moon.
In recent days, we’ve gotten some other bits of casting news. May Calamawy (Ramy) has apparently signed on for a “key role” for the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The publication also reports that Ethan Hawke (Tesla, The Purge) has signed on to play the show’s lead villain.
The show has also picked up a director—Mohamed Diab, according to Deadline. The Egyptian director is best known for Eshtebak (Crash), and Cairo 678. Production on the series is expected to begin this March in Budapest.
